Frequently Seen Injuries From Motor Vehicle Accidents

Car accidents frequently result in severe head and back injuries. Vision problems, concussions, and even skull fractures can result from head trauma. Whiplash is caused by abrupt movements of the neck and head and is extremely painful. It also prevents normal neck movement.

Herniated discs, neck injuries, chest injuries, compressed lungs, and shattered ribs are all common car accident injuries. A physical therapist has the ability to treat all of these injuries.

Did you know that not all symptoms of a car accident appear right away? Some symptoms, for example, may not appear for days or even weeks, and they may persist for months. If you were in a car accident and are in pain, seeing a Fort Myers, Cape Coral & Estero, FL physical therapist can help.

Don’t Delay Your Treatment After Your Accident

Delaying the addressing of a motor vehicle accident can have far-reaching consequences, impacting both short-term recovery and long-term well-being.

Untreated injuries from an accident may worsen over time, leading to chronic pain, stiffness, and decreased mobility. What may initially seem like minor discomfort could evolve into a persistent issue with more severe implications for daily life.

Ignoring early signs of injury might also result in the development of compensatory movement patterns, which can lead to secondary musculoskeletal problems. Procrastination in seeking professional help may contribute to a lengthier rehabilitation process and potentially hinder the ability to regain full function.

Furthermore, the failure to address a motor vehicle accident promptly may have legal and insurance ramifications.

Timely medical documentation is crucial for establishing a clear link between the accident and any resulting injuries.

Delayed medical attention may weaken the connection between the accident and injuries in the eyes of insurers, making it more challenging to secure proper compensation for medical expenses, rehabilitation, and other associated costs. Seeking prompt professional care not only prioritizes your health but also safeguards your legal and financial interests in the aftermath of a motor vehicle accident.

Don’t Let Motor Vehicle Injuries Slow You Down Any Longer…

After a motor vehicle accident, a physical therapist plays a pivotal role in guiding individuals toward a full recovery. One primary focus is addressing musculoskeletal injuries resulting from the impact, such as strains, sprains, and fractures. Through personalized assessments, physical therapists identify the specific areas of impairment and design targeted exercises to improve flexibility, strength, and range of motion. These tailored interventions not only alleviate immediate pain but also promote the healing of damaged tissues, enabling a more comprehensive recovery.

Beyond addressing physical injuries, a physical therapist considers the psychological aspects of recovery. Motor vehicle accidents can leave individuals with emotional distress, anxiety, or post-traumatic stress. A skilled therapist provides emotional support, employing techniques to manage stress and anxiety, facilitating a positive mindset conducive to the overall recovery process. This holistic approach ensures that individuals not only regain physical function but also rebuild their mental resilience, fostering a well-rounded and sustainable recovery.

Additionally, physical therapists assist in restoring functional mobility and coordination. They work on enhancing balance, posture, and proprioception, crucial elements often compromised after a motor vehicle accident. Through targeted exercises and rehabilitation techniques, a physical therapist helps individuals regain confidence in their movements, facilitating a smooth transition back to daily activities and a return to a pre-accident level of functioning. The ongoing guidance and expertise provided by a physical therapist contribute significantly to a comprehensive recovery journey after a motor vehicle accident.

Running injuries can stem from not having enough hip mobility.

Dr Sharon was diligent in dealing with my back and neck issues. She increased my mobility tremendously and the home exercises she gave me did wonders for my golf game and general health. I want to continue a program to increase my mobility even more and enjoy the benefits of painless activities. Her program has done wonders

In September 2022 I had a complex shoulder surgery and began a regimen of physical therapy with Dr. Sharon Sims of Back in Motion here in Verandah. I can only say that today I’m in better physical shape then I’ve been in years. By following her treatment plan I’m able to play “pain free golf” a couple of time a week and participate in fitness activities -- pickleball is next on my list. It wasn’t easy, requiring a lot of work, but it paid off. Thanks Dr. Sharon.I have been seeing Dr. Sharon for a few weeks. After the 2nd visit the severe lower back pain was alleviated. So much so that I have been able to resume golf with much better swing ( although that's not saying much LoL).If you need physical therapy this is the place and she is the right doctor.Be prepared to work hard. If you follow directions you'll be satisfied.

Dr. Sharon is a miracle worker! I ended up with nerve damage after a partial knee replacement and was very slow to recover. Dr. Sharon kept me motivated even though I was not seeing immediate improvement. I kept at it and she has helped me build back my quad strength and range of motion. She noticed I also had some back issues and the orthopedic inserts she recommended for me are really alleviating my back pain and helping me with my gait. I also tried dry needling and that also helped relieve pain and helped with my range of motion. My surgeon said it could take up to a year for my nerves to regenerate and I plan on continuing to see Dr. Sharon until I reach my goal of walking without a limp and being able to resume an active lifestyle. Dr. Sharon was able to adapt exercises so that I could feel that I was improving and her vast experience in the field was obvious. I strongly recommend Dr. Sharon for both flexibility and pain treatment as well as post operative care. She is the best!

I attended an arthritis discovery seminar by Dr. Sharon Sims and found it very informative. I booked my first appointment for an evaluation and the office staff made the process extremely easy and more importantly, efficient! Dr. Sharon's diagnosis was thorough and a treatment plan immediately put into place and future appointments booked. I feel much better after just 4 appointments. Thank you, Dr. Sharon and Back in Motion! Highly recommend!

I suffered a stroke in early October 2021. The stroke mostly resulted in numbness and loss of sensory perception on my left side. However, Dr. Sharon pointed out that it also involved some loss of some motor skills along with a weakened sense of balance.Dr. Sharon has been working with me not only in strengthening my left side but also increasing my sense of balance which has definitely improved over the last several weeks. My golf game has also improved as a result of the therapy.Dr. Sharon’s diagnostic and evaluation skills are exceptional along with her ability to arrive at a treatment plan that has reduced some of the damage from my stroke. I highly recommend Dr. Sharon and am thankful for the physical therapy which she has provided. Thanks,Gary C. Reich D.D.S. ( retired)
