Dr. Scott Gray
Physical therapist Specialist of athletic, sport, and spine injuries Ft Myers, Florida
Dr. Scott Gray is the owner and founder of Back In Motion Sport & Spine Physical Therapy. He is a published author of two best selling books on Amazon and international presenter on the topics of physical therapy. He is the inventor of a renowned treatment called the Gray Method (™). In addition to the clinic in Ft. Myers, he is the lead physical therapist for the Mountain Dew Tour. You can see this on NBC Sports where he works with the world’s best Olympic and Professional athletes.
Dr. James Porco is originally from Long Island, NY. He received his Bachelor’s in Exercise Science (2015) and Doctorate of Physical Therapy (2019) from Florida Gulf Coast University.
James found his enjoyment for Physical Therapy as a teenager as a multi-sport athlete. He shares that passion of assisting others to perform their best, so that they too can enjoy their bodies to their fullest capability.
Prior to pursuing his doctoral degree at FGCU, Dr. Porco was a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist and worked for the Boston Red Sox which began his specialization in athletic performance. While pursuing his doctorate, Dr. Porco used this time to specialize in other areas of interest by earning his Titleist Performance Institute (TPI) Medical certification to gain a knowledge of golf biomechanics to increase golf performance, reduce injury & aide in sport specific rehab. Dr. James is also currently taking his course work to become a certified Gray Method Practitioner (™).
In his time away from the clinic, James uses his passion for fitness to live a very active lifestyle including: golfing, crossfit, lifting weights, playing pick-up sports, and going to the beach.
Dr. Andrew Kupper is the leading Physical Therapist at our Cape Coral Clinic. Dr. Kupper earned his Doctor of Physical Therapy from Washington University in St. Louis. Upon graduation, he received the Beatrice Schutlz Award for the most outstanding clinician in his class.
Next, he spent one year at Gundersen Medical Foundation’s Sports Physical Therapy Residency where he learned how to treat athletes from the founder of sports medicine physical therapy: George J. Davies. Since his residency, he has worked at Champion Sports Medicine in Birmingham, AL, and with Andrew’s Institute in Pensacola, FL.
While Working at Andrew’s Institute he was the staff physical therapist for all athletes at the University of West Florida. Dr. Andrew is currently taking courses to become a certified Gray Method™ Practitioner.
In his off time, Dr. Kupper enjoys watching college football, working out, reading books, and spending time with his family.

Dr. Sharon Sims is the lead Doctor of Physical Therapy at our Verandah location. Dr. Sharon is originally from southeast Florida.
She received her Master of Science degree in Physical Therapy from Barry University in Miami Shores, Florida ( 1997) & her Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) from Nova Southeastern University. She holds certifications as a certified manual physical therapist, Titleist Performance Institute (TPI), and is currently in the process of becoming a Certified Gray Method Practioner (™).
Dr. Sharon has always had a passion for sports and exercise. She grew up with a father who detailed Miami Dolphin’s games as a motorcycle cop, and a mother who was a pediatric nurse. She was destined to be an advocate of both fields. Her passion for physical therapy started at fifteen years old when her mother sustained a humeral neck fracture that changed her life. She helped her with the rehabilitation process.
Aside from clinical care, Dr. Sharon enjoys being a mother to her twenty-two-year-old daughter. She also enjoys maintaining her own fitness performance and shopping.

Dr. Michael Salivar received his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of St. Augustine (2020). Dr. Salivar spent the last summer as a clinical intern at Back In Motion Sport & Spine Physical Therapy under Dr. Scott Gray himself.
Before persuing his doctorate, Dr. Salivar was a Division One athlete playing baseball at FAU, worked as a Physical Therapy Assistant for 4 years as well as completed several clinical internships at hospitals and other physical therapy clinics focusing on sports medicine.

Dr. Anthony Simone is from Wayne, NJ and earned his Bachelor’s in Sociology (2017) and Bachelor’s in Exercise Science (2018) from the University of Scranton. He earned his Doctor of Physical Therapy (2021) from the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences – Miami campus.
Anthony originally wanted to be a Physical Therapist in his junior year of high school when he took his first Anatomy & Physiology class, becoming fascinated by this area of science. As a former collegiate athlete, he has an appreciation for what the human body can do at a high level, as well as understands how an injury or pain can affect everyday life. To further gain knowledge about exercise and human movement, he earned his Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist certification prior to starting Physical Therapy school.
Outside of the clinic, Anthony enjoys staying as active as possible, playing golf, and spending time with family and friends.
Dr. Vanessa de la Vega is from South Florida and earned her Bachelor’s in Psychology (2011) from the University of South Florida. She earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy (2017) from the University of St. Augustine. She grew up in Miami and is a first-generation Cuban American.
Vanessa originally wanted to pursue a career in Physical Therapy at an early age. During her practice as a DPT, Vanessa has focused on treating patients with lumbosacral dysfunctions and vestibular disorders. In the last year, she has pivoted her focus on Pelvic Health and is pursuing a Certificate of Achievement in CAPP-Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy through the American Physical Therapy Association, Section on Women’s Health.
Outside of the clinic, Vanessa enjoys spending time with her dog Nuevo, traveling, camping and spending time with friends and family.
Before pursuing marketing, Krystal worked in graphic design for several Fortune 500 Companies. During that time, she became increasingly interested and integrated in the marketing world. In her free time, she enjoys learning about astronomy and spending time with family or friends.
