Does running leave you with any of this?
Check everything that sounds like you.
Most running injuries come from load your body isn't ready for yet: too much, too soon, or a weak link in how you run. That's exactly what we find and fix.
Find Out What's Causing Yours
Rest, ice, and new shoes calm the pain. They don't fix why it happened.
Every step of a run puts several times your body weight through your legs, thousands of times per run. When one link can't handle that load, something starts to hurt. Many runners take a few weeks off, feel better, and get hurt again as soon as their mileage climbs. At Back In Motion, we provide physical therapy in Fort Myers and Cape Coral for runners the same way we treat every athlete through our sports injury treatment in Fort Myers: by finding the real cause. Common culprits:
- Increasing mileage, speed, or hills too quickly
- Weak hips and glutes that let the knee collapse inward
- Tight or weak calves that overload the Achilles and shins
- Overstriding and running mechanics that add stress with every step
- Not enough recovery between hard runs
Where you are now vs. where you could be

Common questions about running injuries
Do I have to stop running?
Not always. Many runners can keep running with changes to mileage, pace, or terrain while they recover. We'll tell you what's safe right now and build you back up step by step.
Will new shoes fix my injury?
Sometimes shoes help, but they rarely fix the cause on their own. Strength, mobility, training load, and how you run usually matter more. We'll tell you honestly whether your shoes are part of the problem.
When should I see a doctor right away?
Stop running and get checked if you have pain in one specific spot on a bone, pain at rest or at night, swelling, or pain that gets worse with every run. These can be signs of a stress fracture. Get prompt care for a sudden "pop" in your calf or Achilles.
How can I prevent running injuries?
Increase your mileage gradually, build strength in your hips, legs, and calves, and leave time to recover between hard runs. We can build a simple strength routine around your training.
