- A clear plan to get back on the court safely
- Get stronger so it doesn't keep coming back
Does pickleball leave you with any of this?
Check everything that sounds like you.
Most pickleball injuries come from how the body handles quick stops, pivots, and repetitive swings. That's exactly what we find and fix.
Find Out What's Causing Yours
Rest, braces, and ice calm the pain. They don't fix why it happened.
Pickleball looks easy on the body, but it's full of quick starts, sudden stops, lunges, and thousands of repetitive swings. Many players take a few weeks off, feel better, and get hurt again in their first tournament back. At Back In Motion, we treat pickleball players across Fort Myers and Cape Coral the same way we treat every athlete through our sports injury treatment in Fort Myers: by finding the real cause. Common culprits:
- Weak hips and legs that can't control quick stops and pivots
- Stiff calves and ankles that overload the Achilles
- Grip and swing mechanics that strain the elbow and wrist
- Limited shoulder and upper back mobility on overheads
- Jumping into games without a warm-up, or playing too much too soon

Common questions about pickleball injuries
Can I keep playing pickleball while I recover?
Often, yes, with some changes. We'll tell you what's safe to keep doing, what to modify for now (like fewer games or avoiding certain shots), and how to build back up without a setback.
Is "pickleball elbow" the same as tennis elbow?
Usually, yes. It's irritation of the tendons on the outside of the elbow from gripping and repeated backhands. Learn more on our hand, wrist & elbow page. It responds well to the right strengthening and changes to grip and swing.
When should I see a doctor right away?
Get prompt medical care if you feel a sudden "pop" in your calf or the back of your ankle, can't put weight on your leg, have a swollen or deformed wrist after a fall, or hit your head. These can mean an Achilles rupture, fracture, or concussion.
How can I prevent pickleball injuries?
Warm up before you play, build leg and hip strength, work on calf and ankle mobility, and increase your playing time gradually. We can build a simple routine around your game.
