The Proven Fort Myers Sports Performance Training Program That Builds Stronger, Safer Athletes

As a parent, you want to support your athlete’s goals — whether that’s making varsity, getting recruited, or just building confidence. But with so many conflicting opinions on youth sports performance training, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. Some programs push weights too early. Others focus only on conditioning without proper form or injury prevention. Meanwhile, your athlete is working hard — but not seeing real results.
You might be asking: Is this even safe? Are we wasting time? Are they falling behind?
The truth is, not all athletic training is right for youth athletes. To see real progress, they need a program that’s personalized, age-appropriate, and grounded in science.
That’s where Back In Motion comes in — helping parents cut through the noise with smart, proven training that actually delivers.

Why I Built This Program — Dr. Scott Gray

I didn’t come to this as a clinician who read about sports. I came to it as an athlete.
I played Division I football. And like a lot of athletes, my career was shaped less by how hard I trained than by an injury nobody properly figured out. I did the rehab I was told to do. I came back when I was told I was ready. And I was never quite the same. That experience is the reason this practice exists — and it’s the reason I built the Gray Method™ around finding the cause of a problem instead of chasing the symptom.
Since then I’ve spent my career as a sports physical therapist, working with athletes at every level to get them back on the field and keep them there but also improving their confidence, first step quickness, speed and agility, and resilience to injuries.
I’m also a coach at Canterbury School, which means I’m not just seeing athletes in a clinic — I’m on the field with them. I see what a real season demands. I see what happens to a kid who’s carrying a limitation nobody screened for. And I see the difference in the athletes who built a foundation early.
And I’m a parent. So I understand the part that doesn’t show up in any training program: you’re not just trying to make your kid faster. You’re trying to make sure the thing they love doesn’t end early, and that the money and the weekends you’re putting in actually amount to something.
That’s what we built here. Not a gym that added an athlete program — a physical therapy practice that trains athletes, where the person designing the program has been the injured athlete, treated the injured athlete, coached the athlete, and driven the athlete to practice.
