Manual Therapy Can Help You Overcome Your Injury Faster…

If so, manual therapy may be an excellent solution to your problems! Are you having trouble recovering from an injury or surgery? If so, consider manual therapy as a treatment option. This method of treatment can help relieve pain and improve movement. To learn more, make an appointment with Back In Motion Physical Therapy & Performance today!

Is Manual Therapy Painful?

No, it’s not. Instead, it is extremely effective at relieving pain!

Manual therapy, a hands-on, safe technique, is used by physical therapists to move stiff joints and soft tissue. It is, in other words, a therapeutic technique that aids in treating edema, restraint, joint mobilization, and mobility improvement. We use it for orthopedic patients and athletes at our sports injury clinic.

Many first-time physical therapy patients anticipate a painful or unpleasant treatment. These assumptions are incorrect– manual therapy is both non-invasive and painless. The best part is that no potentially dangerous medications are involved in this treatment.

Our physical therapists are medical professionals familiar with the human body’s inner workings. You’ll leave your first appointment with our physical therapist feeling better and more optimistic about the future of your treatment.

Many patients report seeing results after only one session.

The Different Types of Manual Physical Therapy We Offer

Back In Motion Physical Therapy & Performance in Fort Myers, Cape Coral & Estero, FL will relieve your pain using a variety of therapeutic techniques. Here are a few popular manual therapy treatments:

Manual traction is the application of gentle pressure to one or more body parts, such as your neck and back, to assist soft tissues in regaining their natural mobility.

A physical therapist uses spinal manipulation to assess and improve spinal function. It also helps with inflammation reduction and nerve function enhancement.

During joint mobilization, low-velocity pressure is used to move confined joints.

Soft tissue massage employs deep pressure techniques and stretching to assist our physical therapists in locating severely restricted areas of your body.

Your therapist at Back In Motion Physical Therapy & Sports Performance can then break up scar tissue and adhesions that appear as a result of inflammation or damage. By increasing blood flow to the muscles and soft tissues, soft tissue massage can aid in healing.

Running injuries can stem from not having enough hip mobility.

Dr Sharon was diligent in dealing with my back and neck issues. She increased my mobility tremendously and the home exercises she gave me did wonders for my golf game and general health. I want to continue a program to increase my mobility even more and enjoy the benefits of painless activities. Her program has done wonders

In September 2022 I had a complex shoulder surgery and began a regimen of physical therapy with Dr. Sharon Sims of Back in Motion here in Verandah. I can only say that today I’m in better physical shape then I’ve been in years. By following her treatment plan I’m able to play “pain free golf” a couple of time a week and participate in fitness activities -- pickleball is next on my list. It wasn’t easy, requiring a lot of work, but it paid off. Thanks Dr. Sharon.I have been seeing Dr. Sharon for a few weeks. After the 2nd visit the severe lower back pain was alleviated. So much so that I have been able to resume golf with much better swing ( although that's not saying much LoL).If you need physical therapy this is the place and she is the right doctor.Be prepared to work hard. If you follow directions you'll be satisfied.

Dr. Sharon is a miracle worker! I ended up with nerve damage after a partial knee replacement and was very slow to recover. Dr. Sharon kept me motivated even though I was not seeing immediate improvement. I kept at it and she has helped me build back my quad strength and range of motion. She noticed I also had some back issues and the orthopedic inserts she recommended for me are really alleviating my back pain and helping me with my gait. I also tried dry needling and that also helped relieve pain and helped with my range of motion. My surgeon said it could take up to a year for my nerves to regenerate and I plan on continuing to see Dr. Sharon until I reach my goal of walking without a limp and being able to resume an active lifestyle. Dr. Sharon was able to adapt exercises so that I could feel that I was improving and her vast experience in the field was obvious. I strongly recommend Dr. Sharon for both flexibility and pain treatment as well as post operative care. She is the best!

Sharon is an excellent physical therapist, highly competent, professional and personable! She has been helping me with both my shoulder and my back. I am now comfortably walking, doing the elliptical and biking, and will be golfing and playing pickleball soon. Thanks so much!

I attended an arthritis discovery seminar by Dr. Sharon Sims and found it very informative. I booked my first appointment for an evaluation and the office staff made the process extremely easy and more importantly, efficient! Dr. Sharon's diagnosis was thorough and a treatment plan immediately put into place and future appointments booked. I feel much better after just 4 appointments. Thank you, Dr. Sharon and Back in Motion! Highly recommend!

I suffered a stroke in early October 2021. The stroke mostly resulted in numbness and loss of sensory perception on my left side. However, Dr. Sharon pointed out that it also involved some loss of some motor skills along with a weakened sense of balance.Dr. Sharon has been working with me not only in strengthening my left side but also increasing my sense of balance which has definitely improved over the last several weeks. My golf game has also improved as a result of the therapy.Dr. Sharon’s diagnostic and evaluation skills are exceptional along with her ability to arrive at a treatment plan that has reduced some of the damage from my stroke. I highly recommend Dr. Sharon and am thankful for the physical therapy which she has provided. Thanks,Gary C. Reich D.D.S. ( retired)
